Midday in New Mexico

This is a work in pastels that I completed in probably 1972. It tries to convey the feeling that the central focus of New Mexico is its sunlight. Once the University of New Mexico had an art show for works by the non-Art School Faculty. I entered the work there and it won second prize. There was no award but it got a kind word in the Lobo, the student newspaper:
